Our Client
Our client is a well-established company in the construction sector based in South Somerset.
The company is looking to recruit a hands-on, proactive and insightful Financial Controller to maintain the company’s finances, provide financial analysis and support to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team.
Financial Controller - The Role
As Financial Controller you will be an experienced hands-on accountant and have the commercial awareness to assist the company with its growth.

Key responsibilities include:
- Support and develop the finance team;
- Develop and review the financial reporting systems;
- Produce the monthly management accounts pack with variance analysis;
- Produce and monitor forecasts and budgets;
- Monitor cash and prepare cash flow forecasts;
- Monitor WIP by project to ensure accurate recording of costs and revenues;
- Oversee AR and AP;
- Take responsibility for balance sheet reporting;
- Complete monthly control account reconciliations;
- Prepare VAT returns;
- Manage payroll;
- Prepare annual financial information to support the year end accounts;
- Ensure statutory financial compliance requirements are met;
- Ad hoc finance projects.
The Successful Applicant
As Financial Controller you will be a qualified, or part qualified, accountant who has previously performed at a similar level in an SME.
Ideally you will demonstrate:
- Qualified, or part qualified, accountant (AAT/CIMA/ACCA/ACA);
- A good understanding of project accounting and WIP;
- Construction industry experience;
- Experience within a hands-on financial management role;
- Strong Microsoft office skills;
- Knowledge of Sage 200 is desirable;
- Strong communication skills.
