Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, analysis, and reporting for the Hinkley Point C project.
- Design and oversee geotechnical projects, including foundations, retaining structures, and ground improvement.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of geotechnical solutions with overall project design and construction.
- Perform site inspections and supervise field activities to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Provide expert advice on geotechnical matters to project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong background in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geotechnical design principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
