Mechanical Project Manager
Location: Initially Bristol and then Hinkley Point C
Salary: 60,000 - 70,000 + Car Allowance
Security Clearance: BPSS
Role Summary:
Hinkley Point C is the UK's first new-build nuclear power station in a generation and is critical to the country's NetZero targets. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work on one of the UK's most ambitious and high-profile infrastructure projects. As a Project Manager, you will lead the mechanical team to deliver activities on time, within budget, and to the required safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the safe and efficient delivery of mechanical activities in line with programme targets.
- Develop and implement strategies to manage the execution plan, ensuring alignment with the overall programme.
- Maintain communication with all stakeholders, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Track progress against project milestones, deadlines, and budget, providing regular updates to key stakeholders.
- Proactively manage and resolve risks and issues, escalating where necessary.
- Facilitate lessons-learned and knowledge-sharing across the team.
- Develop strong relationships within the project team and with external stakeholders.
Additional Duties:
- Apply expertise in mechanical systems infrastructure, safety, commissioning, and commercial construction practices.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure accurate timelines and successful task delivery.
- Lead and motivate project teams, ensuring high standards and exceeding expectations.
- Plan, develop, and monitor project progress from concept to completion.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering (minimum requirement), preferably to degree level.
- Experience in managing mechanical systems, installation, and safety in regulated environments.
- Professional Project Management qualification (APM PMQ or similar).
- Proven experience in delivering projects in complex environments, preferably in the nuclear or regulated sectors.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Knowledge of nuclear quality standards and safety-critical systems.
- Experience in the design, manufacture, and installation of mechanical systems (e.g. HVAC, piping, drainage).
- Strong experience in project management, financial management, and change management.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations.
Working Location and Hours:
- Initial 6-9 months: Bristol (Aztec West/Warmley)
- From late 2025/early 2026: Hinkley Point C Construction Site, near Bridgwater, Somerset
- 9-day fortnight
