Randstad are recruiting for a highly skilled & experienced Civil Engineer to work for one of the industries leading contractors on a Robust long term infrastructure project. The successful candidate will have a solid track record in working on major civils project for tier 1 contractors.

The role is inside IR35 and has an attractive day rate, and a daily lodge bonus payment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Section Management: Take ownership of a specific section of the project, including roads, bridges, or other infrastructure components, and manage all engineering activities within that section.

  2. Surveying and Setting Out: Utilize surveying equipment to establish accurate measurements, set out project elements, and ensure precise construction execution.

  3. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of work within your section to ensure it complies with project specifications, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

  4. Health and Safety: Champion a culture of safety within your section, implement and enforce health and safety procedures, and ensure the well-being of all personnel.

  5. Material Management: Oversee the procurement, handling, and storage of construction materials within your section, ensuring timely delivery and proper usage.

  6. Progress Reporting: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, prepare progress reports, and communicate effectively with the project team and management.

  7. Problem Solving: Identify and address technical challenges within your section, working proactively to find efficient and effective solutions.

  8. Resource Coordination: Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and local authorities to ensure smooth execution of activities within your section.

  9. Documentation: Maintain and organize project documentation, including drawings, plans, and as-built records for your section.

  10. Cost Control: Assist in monitoring costs within your section and resource allocation to ensure it remains within budget.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Section Engineer, ideally in heavy civils or construction projects.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  3. Proficiency in surveying equipment and relevant software.
  4. In-depth knowledge of heavy civil engineering construction methods, materials, and quality standards.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team.
  7. Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the construction industry.
  8. A commitment to delivering high-quality work within specified timelines.
