Mechanical Design Engineer
Description & Background:
A position has arisen within the Common Building Services team at Hinkley Point C, the UK's first new build nuclear power station in a generation. The role focuses on creating and implementing temporary mechanical building services design solutions. Working within this prestigious project, you'll be crucial in ensuring technical assurance, compliance, and sustainability of design while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality required for this critical UK NetZero project.
Responsibilities:
- Create and implement temporary mechanical building services design solutions
- Ensure integration and technical assurance of design and engineering
- Coordinate with Principal Designer and Principal Contractor for CDM compliance
- Design solutions for Ventilation, LTHW, CHW & CWS piped services
- Create technical documentation (specifications, datasheets, calculations, schedules, drawings)
- Review vendor documentation for compliance
- Support design/construction reviews and sign-off
- Prepare and communicate design risk assessments
- Identify innovative solutions and provide technical support
- Develop relationships with technical consultants and suppliers
Experience Required:
- HNC/HND in Electrical Installation services
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Duct and Pipe systems design software
- Understanding of CDM codes of practice and regulatory requirements
- Experience with AutoCAD 2020 drafting software (desirable)
