Job Purpose / Overview

Are you an experienced Construction Manager with a background in Electrical Building Services? Are you ready to lead in one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects? Join the team delivering Hinkley Point C, the first new nuclear power station in the UK for over 20 years and play a key role in building a low-carbon future.

This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the construction and delivery of critical electrical building services, managing on-site activities and ensuring excellence in safety, quality, and efficiency.

Contextual Information

Hinkley Point C is a nuclear site in West Somerset, and its vision is to build two major EPR nuclear plants. The Construction Delivery Lead will specifically oversee the construction within the Nuclear Island (NI) area, including Units 1 & 2 (N1, N2, and N3). As this project is massive in scale and complexity, we're looking for someone with experience in delivering large projects under challenging constraints.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Leadership & Support: Manage and support a team of Construction Delivery Managers to drive works on-site and ensure contractor performance aligns with project timelines.
  • Site Oversight: Provide tactical planning for logistics and implementation, ensuring seamless integration across site operations.
  • Safety & Quality: Proactively recommend and implement temporary measures to mitigate safety and quality concerns. Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Communication & Reporting: Maintain effective communication with contractors, internal teams, and senior management. Organise and lead PLOD/PLOW meetings, providing clear outputs and actionable plans.
  • Problem-Solving: Escalate concerns to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager and propose recovery plans to mitigate delays or risks.
  • Contract Management: Work closely with contract project managers to guide responses to contractual correspondence and manage service contracts effectively.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in managing construction teams and driving performance in large-scale projects.
  • Strong expertise in electrical building services within a construction environment.
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, resource allocation, and recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent vocational training.
  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to motivate teams and deliver excellence.

Desirable:

  • Experience in high-security environments or the nuclear sector.
  • Working knowledge of large infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Ability to speak French is advantageous but not essential.

Are you ready to be part of a project that's reshaping the energy landscape of the UK? This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on the construction of Hinkley Point C. If you have the skills and experience to lead this challenging endeavour, we want to hear from you.
