We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager to work with our Client in Bridgewater, Somerset. The position is full time.

The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the strategy and operation of the business functions, including financial management, and administration.

They will advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the business to operate effectively and efficiently, and allow other members of the leadership team to focus on business functions. Ideally somebody from a Care/Charity/Education background.

Leadership

  • Be responsible for line-managing support staff, including carrying out long-term resource planning and managing recruitment, appraisal and professional development
  • Under the direction of the Director, lead on all financial matters in the business, to ensure the business' successful financial performance and to ensure financial decisions are clearly linked to the business' strategic goals
  • As a member of the senior leadership team, attend all leadership team meetings and report to the Director where appropriate
  • Take all decisions in line with the vision and values of the business, and encourage others to do the same
  • Implement a marketing plan for the business, which utilises the business website, signage and communications with current and prospective clients

Financial management

  • In partnership with the Director, manage the business' budget and ensure it is balanced, realistic, and represents an effective use of all funds
  • Monitor the budget all year round, advising the Director where revisions or changes are needed. Ensure monthly P and L is produced in good time for Director meeting each month
  • Comply with financial reporting requirements and submit statutory returns
  • Oversee business bank accounts on a day-to-day basis, ensuring money is banked, invoices are paid promptly, money owed is collected, and clear records are kept
  • Lead on procurement processes, managing tenders where appropriate, conducting due diligence, benchmarking and evaluating suppliers, negotiating deals and ensuring value for money

Administration

  • Keep records in accordance with the business' record retention schedule and data protection law, always ensuring information security and confidentiality
  • Support the data protection officer with ensuring data protection compliance and helping the business understand how to comply with data protection law

The position is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
