We are looking for a skilled and dedicated MEH NI and CI Handover Engineer to join the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, one of the nation's most important infrastructure projects. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team delivering the future of the UK's energy infrastructure.

As the MEH NI and CI Handover Engineer, you will oversee the handover of the Nuclear Island (NI) and Conventional Island (CI) systems from the MEH JV to the MEH Program, and subsequently to Commissioning and Pre-Operations teams. Your role is critical in ensuring that all systems are installed, checked, and handed over in line with engineering documentation, specifications, and safety requirements.

Contextual Information

Hinkley Point C is a nuclear site in West Somerset, and its vision is to build two major EPR nuclear plants. The Construction Delivery Lead will specifically oversee the construction within the Nuclear Island (NI) area, including Units 1 & 2 (N1, N2, and N3). As this project is massive in scale and complexity, we're looking for someone with experience in delivering large projects under challenging constraints.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Oversee the system handover and takeover process for NI and CI, ensuring seamless transitions through to Commissioning and Pre-Operations.
  • Coordinate and instruct MEH JV on the preparation of Engineering Execution Summary Reports (EESR), reviewing documents in Teamcenter, and organizing site walkdown checks to verify system installation.
  • Manage and categorize punch lists following walkdown checks and support the closure of comments and snags.
  • Ensure all systems align with the Erection Work Package, System Work Package, and engineering specifications.
  • Support the Functional Takeover for Commissioning, Turnover for Isolation, and Takeover for Maintenance
  • Maintain and update system handover and takeover procedures, guidelines, and work instructions.
  • Track and manage handover schedules and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Prepare documentation and certificates for FTC, TFI, and TFM.
  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders including MEH JV, Commissioning, and Pre-ops
  • Lead the identification and resolution of any issues or faults related to system installation.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical expertise in mechanical engineering or nuclear operation and maintenance.
  • Degree-qualified in engineering or a related science discipline.
  • Experience in nuclear industry or a similarly regulated sector such as oil & gas or electricity.
  • Proven experience with installation, commissioning, or maintenance of systems within major infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks, including compliance requirements in regulated environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build networks, negotiate, and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical expertise in identifying and resolving faults in installation or commissioning.

Desirable Skills

  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Experience working on the design, commissioning, and maintenance of nuclear power plants.
  • Demonstrable history of adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Experience leading technical engineering teams within a project-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of the UK nuclear licensing framework and safety case processes.
  • Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of the impacts of project changes.

Are you ready to be part of a project that's reshaping the energy landscape of the UK? This is your opportunity to make a significant impact on the construction of Hinkley Point C. If you have the skills and experience to lead this challenging endeavour, we want to hear from you.
