Job Title: Steelfixer
Location: Somerset

Role Overview:
As a Steelfixer, you will support the team in the safe installation of rebar to meet Nuclear quality standards. This is part of an ambitious project to deliver a sustainable and productive nuclear new build that brings significant benefits to local and UK-wide communities while setting a benchmark for future projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Position and secure steel reinforcement bars or mesh to reinforce concrete structures.
  • Read and interpret reinforcement plans, drawings, and schedules.
  • Set out and prepare materials, including bending and cutting steel to required specifications.
  • Assemble and position reinforcement accurately using tying wire and tools.
  • Fabricate specialized reinforcement units and join prefabricated sections for large-scale construction.
  • Ensure readiness of reinforcement for concrete pours in line with quality and safety standards.

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Ability to work effectively in a construction environment.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling heavy objects.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Team player with the ability to follow instructions precisely.

Qualifications:

  • CSCS Skilled Worker Card (Blue).
  • Training in working at heights (e.g., Scissor lift, IPAF, Harness training).
  • Abrasive Wheels certification.
  • Competence in interpreting both 2D drawings and 3D models.

Additional Considerations:

Proven ability to execute verbal and written instructions.

Comfortable working outdoors and performing routine manual labor tasks.
