DescriptionA well-established company specializing in professional, practical, and reliable household appliances is seeking a skilled Product Design Engineer. With a strong international presence and ongoing growth, this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative team.

The New Product Development (NPD) and Product Support Teams focus on strategic improvements to product ranges, ensuring they align with evolving customer needs and market demands. This role offers the chance to collaborate with top engineers, designers, and product managers in a fast-paced environment.

The role is primarily based in Somerset, with the option for some hybrid working. Flexible start and finish times and Friday afternoons off provide a healthy work-life balance. Responsibilities:

  • Provide significant design and engineering input into various projects.

  • Create detailed product designs.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the R&D department.

  • Represent the company in internal and external stakeholder meetings.

  • Ensure adherence to new processes, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Focus on design accuracy, error rectification, and cost control.

  • Participate in Business Improvement Projects (BIPs).

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Degree or relevant qualification in design or engineering.

  • Proficiency in CAD modeling software and document control.

  • Strong understanding of loads, forces, and complex assemblies.

  • Experience in product development from concept to production.

  • Knowledge of plastic injection molding, sheet metalwork, fabricated assemblies, and rotational molding.

  • Familiarity with a range of manufacturing processes and construction methods.

  • Ability to produce engineering drawings and design schemes.

  • Experience in design for both high-volume, low-cost manufacture and low-volume, high-value products.

  • Good hand model-making skills for proof of principle models.

  • Strong understanding of business demands.

  • Experience collaborating across departments and with external suppliers.
