Diamond Search Recruited are working exclusively with a world leader in optical designing, testing and manufacturing. As experts in the technology of light, our client works with customers to provide optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supplier Quality Development Engineer. Ideal candidates will be based within a commutable distance of one of the UK Manufacturing sites: Ashford (Kent), Ilminster (Somerset), Plymouth or Torquay (Devon).The Supplier Quality Development Engineer will manage supplier quality processes for the UK and European supply chain. Responsibilities include onboarding new suppliers, troubleshooting quality issues, performing audits, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and implementing supplier performance and risk management programs.Responsibilities include;

  • Develop and qualify supplier processes for new components in collaboration with sourcing, quality, and manufacturing teams
  • Address supplier quality and delivery issues, coordinate problem-solving, and support supply continuity
  • Conduct supplier assessments, quality reviews, and audits, and oversee the PPAP process
  • Implement risk and performance reviews, manage compliance, and support cost-reduction initiatives
  • Drive process improvements with suppliers and provide input during the design phase
  • Facilitate quality systems and processes to enhance supplier performance, focusing on root cause analysis and effective supply chain management

Ideal candidates will have the following attributes;

  • Lead auditor in a nationally recognised standard i.e., AS9100
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to work in isolation
  • 8D problem solving skills
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Strong team working skills
  • Analytical skills
