Mechanical Automation Engineer

Opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Automation Engineer, for an established, dynamic and fast paced manufacturer based in Somerset.

Role- Working within the automation division, you will be supporting customers with their electrification ambitions. You will be responsible for designing bespoke manufacturing solutions to aid with the manufacture of electric motors. The solutions created will be broad covering manual jigs and fixtures through to fully automated manufacturing cells.

  • Collaborating with clients and design teams to create detailed specifications.
  • Developing engineering solutions for production equipment.
  • Drafting 2D manufacturing drawings and detailed 3D designs.
  • Working closely with control engineers to develop automation systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Supporting equipment procurement, planning, and commissioning.
  • Resolving production process issues and improving efficiency.
  • Delivering high-quality products to customers.
  • Providing training to client engineers and operators.
  • Producing supporting documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in design bespoke machinery/equipment.
  • Extensive working experience in Solidworks CAD system.
  • Understanding of MFMEA processes.
  • Knowledge and experience using GD&T

Experience designing and manufacturing the following:

  • Equipment incorporating robotics.
  • Understanding of the machine directive and general system safety requirements.
  • Control systems.
