Junior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the RoleWe are offering an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member, you will be responsible for producing P&IDs, layouts, and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Lite, while also contributing to the development of a 3D library for standard plant items. This role offers the chance to work on innovative projects and liaise directly with clients to ensure quality and accuracy in design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate and detailed drawings in a timely manner to support the project team.
  • Develop and maintain a 3D library for standard plant items.
  • Liaise with clients to discuss and validate design details.
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings, including general arrangements, part drawings, developments, and templates.
  • Generate piping and steelwork fabrication drawings, including isometrics, general arrangements, and orthographic projections.
  • Review and check detailed design drawings for piping systems, supports, and steelwork in compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Prepare and verify bill of materials.
  • Provide technical input during the detailed engineering phase of projects.
  • Support the preparation of manufacturing work packs.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience working and designing component parts (pipes, valves etc.)
  • Bachelors Degree of equivalent (HNC) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks (CSWP/CSWE accreditation is beneficial).
  • Strong understanding of 2D CAD packages, such as AutoCAD.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Desirable Experience:

Previous experience in piping, engineering, water treatment, filtration, tanks, and vessels.

Familiarity with industry standards and codes for mechanical design.
