Mechanical Field Engineer

Are you looking for a new challenge where you can put your Mechanical Engineering experience (e.g. pipework, pumps, tanks, rotating equipment) and broad knowledge of quality assurance (e.g. ISO9001) to use?

Certain Advantage are supporting a prestigious Global Engineering Services client in the recruitment of a Mechanical Field Engineer position in Somerset. This is a unique opportunity to work with an organisation heavily involved in nuclear new build programmes across the UK and Europe, including the UK's first in a generation Nuclear Power Station.

Working with the Principal Contractor the purpose of the role is to manage and coordinate surveillance of quality compliance of the contract partners.

Reporting to the Superintendent you'll input into site-wide management issues, and a high level of interaction and coordination with other operational members of the site wide team will be required. As well as the reporting and liaising responsibilities, your role will be to adhere to, and suggest enhancements / improvements to company policies, procedures and protocols for construction, health & safety and other functions.

Candidate skills we're looking for:

  • A Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent) vocational training and significant experience
  • Experience and knowledge of pipework installation, pumps, tanks and rotating equipment
  • Broad knowledge and wide understanding of the materials, trades methods and legal requirements
  • Broad knowledge of Quality Assurance Requirements (such as ISO9001)
  • Broad knowledge and wide understanding of the building industry, materials, trades methods and legal requirements
  • Excellent organisation, delegation and communication skills. Ability to work within a high performing team that continuously outperforms expectations and objectives
  • Proven experience of writing diaries which are accurate, concise and with relevance to the particular form of contract
  • Proven track record of working within a large construction team
  • Good attention to detail when checking work and materials
  • Able to establish appropriate working relationships with the contractors
  • Persuasive and diplomatic whilst remaining independent
