Technical Manager - Plastic Manufacturing (Thermoforming & Extrusion)

Are you a technically skilled leader with a strong background in plastic manufacturing? We're looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join our team in Bridgwater, supporting innovation, new product introduction, and continuous improvement across our thermoforming and extrusion operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support new product and tool commissioning, ensuring a smooth transition from design to manufacture
Drive the implementation of new products, manufacturing equipment, and process improvements to optimise cycle times, changeovers, downtime, and output
Analyse and report on new product commissioning against commercial targets, identifying and resolving variances
Champion value engineering projects that enhance profitability and manufacturing efficiency
Identify, plan, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in thermoform automation, tooling, machinery, and processes
Provide technical support to the Extrusion Manager and team on NPD, material development, and troubleshooting
Ensure quality and specification compliance of all tooling procured through external suppliers
Support Stage Gate processes, and apply SPC and process control techniques throughout operations
Skills & Qualifications
Degree-qualified in a manufacturing, engineering, or relevant technical field
10+ years' experience in plastic manufacturing - thermoforming expertise essential, extrusion experience beneficial
Solid working knowledge of polymer processing and associated production methods
Practical experience with SPC, Stage Gate NPI processes, and process control
Strong project management skills and the ability to deliver technical on-site support
A proactive and hands-on approach, with strong analytical and communication skills
- Being able to travel within the UK and Europe
