Description & Background

At Hinkley Point C nuclear site, located in West Somerset, we're seeking an L5 MEH Construction Planner to join our PDO Planning Team. The Construction Planner reports to the L5 MEH Area Construction Planner and will be responsible for onsite planning of installation activities within the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC) phase. Working within the MEH central planning team, you'll support the construction lead planner to develop and progress the integrated level 5 schedule which encompasses the full MEH scope. Due to the scale and complexity of this project, programme duration, and challenging completion date, experience in the execution of integrated planning for complex MEH works is essential.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, design, test and commission detailed construction schedules within the MEH phase
  • Conduct integrated schedule reviews to develop detailed, optimised construction delivery sequences and resource loaded schedules
  • Support the 16-week look ahead process to un-constrain work and deliver schedule adherence
  • Manage and update schedule data within planning and production control toolsets
  • Support performance optimisation and influence 4D capability on Safety, Quality, Cost, Time & Risk
  • Ensure MEH installation schedule is supported by relevant digital toolsets and data
  • Produce, manage and maintain MEH Programme construction schedules per planning procedures
  • Report site progress and ensure construction teams are informed of relevant schedule data
  • Develop resource, material, and quantities profiles to support delivery readiness
  • Work with 4D team to develop animated schedule sequences and enhance 4D capabilities
  • Develop visual management capabilities for field deployment by construction teams
  • Encourage development of HPC lessons learned to support future project execution

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in delivering highly complex projects in regulated environments
  • Strong communication skills in English (French knowledge advantageous)
  • Industrial experience in MEH delivery
  • In-depth knowledge of programme progress, forecast position and planning
  • Understanding of various planning, programming and progress monitoring methods
  • Understanding of construction market, methods, plant, equipment and labour requirements
  • Basic understanding of estimating principles

  • Understanding of NEC Alliance contract and other contract forms used on HPC
