Buyer

Due to continued growth and investment our client is looking to recruit an experienced Buyer to oversee Purchasing projects which in turn will reduce cost of materials and services to the company.

Manage / improve deliveries into the company in order to maintain targeted production levels through direct interaction with Suppliers and internal departmental heads. This role offers the opportunity to join a growing business that supports the development of their staff ensuring a welcoming and professional work environment within a modern engineering facility.

Buyer Main Responsibilities and duties

  • Oversee Purchasing projects which in turn will reduce cost of materials and services to the company
  • Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
  • To gain an understanding of the manufacture & use of all parts under your immediate control.
  • Improve the availability of parts to production.
  • Show cost savings through costing exercises, resourcing, and supplier development.
  • To keep stock order levels accurate & ensure on time delivery of both spot orders and blanket orders.
  • Manage Kanban/Consignment stock systems, stock levels, introduction & deletion of new parts.
  • Undertake consumable ordering for production ensuring an option of tact time improvement
  • Work with suppliers to identify cost saving opportunities for the Company.
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
  • Undertake visits where required to assist in supplier development and commencement.
  • Ensure stores runs efficiently incorporating new and efficient stock control systems / methods.

Buyer Background

  • Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
  • Commercially and financially aware.
  • Proven purchasing experience, preferably within a precision engineering environment.
  • Contract management and supplier experience.
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
