Software/Controls Engineer
Up to £55,200 - includes car allowance

This position will be based in Bridgwater and will primarily focus on designing electrical control systems for various engineering projects. The client values a casual and collaborative work environment, where innovation and creativity are encouraged. Travel is a requirement in and outside of the UK when needed

As a Software/Controls Engineer, you will have the opportunity to take full technical ownership of projects, from design to customer receipt. We are looking for someone who is not only skilled in their craft, but also takes pride in delivering top-quality work that exceeds client expectations. You will work closely with our team of engineers and clients to develop and test control panels, PLC programs, and HMI software.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical control systems for various engineering projects in accordance with industry standards
- Conduct risk assessments and make necessary updates to ensure equipment and processes are in compliance with safety regulations
- Develop and write specifications for PLC programs and HMI software
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide technical expertise and support
- Take full technical ownership of projects, from design to customer receipt
- Conduct thorough testing to ensure control systems are functioning properly
- Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and implement new technologies when appropriate
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to team members

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in software/controls engineering
- Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI software, pneumatics, and fluid control systems
- Experience in writing specifications for PLC programs and HMI software
- Working knowledge of risk assessments and safety regulations
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
