About the role:

A specialist mental health service is seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join its dedicated multidisciplinary team. This role focuses on providing expert speech and communication therapy to individuals with complex mental health needs.

The successful candidate will manage a designated caseload, utilising theoretical and practical experience to assess needs, develop tailored interventions, and evaluate treatment outcomes. They will play a key role in helping service users improve their communication skills, promote engagement, and support recovery.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct specialist assessments and deliver therapy for individuals with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Lead group therapeutic sessions to help service users develop their communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, contributing to care planning and treatment strategies.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff on communication strategies and best practices.
  • Undertake audits and contribute to research in speech and language therapy interventions.
  • Demonstrate expertise in managing complex cases, including those with cultural and linguistic differences.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience managing a caseload involving the assessment and treatment of dysphagia.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
