Astute's Renewables team is partnering with an innovative renewable energy company that specialises in large-scale ground-mounted solar systems, providing design, manufacture, and installation services. We are recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join their dynamic team and presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to both current projects and new product development in a rapidly growing industry.

The Civil Engineer role offers a salary between 29,000 and 35,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Sales Director, you will be responsible for

  • Product Structural Design (Solar Framing) - Taking ownership of existing structural designs and implementing them to meet specific project requirements.
  • Supporting new product development, including certification of designs.
  • Ensuring cost-effective product selection based on structural results.
  • Geotechnical Analysis - Conducting and overseeing on-site geotechnical surveys, including borehole samples and trial pits.
  • Reporting findings to the project manager and ensuring product suitability for specific sites.
  • Axial Load Testing -Performing on-site axial load testing of driven pile products to assess site suitability.
  • Generating reports and selecting suitable products based on testing results.
  • Additional Structural Calculations - Supporting the design team with structural calculations for non-solar products as required.


Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A degree or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong communication skills for customer and internal team interactions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly spreadsheets.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective time management.
  • Previous experience in the renewables or construction industries would be advantageous but is not essential.
