Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Physiotherapist with a passion for rehabilitation to join our Intermediate Care Service. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of clinical areas, including orthopaedics, neurology, medical and surgical conditions, as well as frail elderly patients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Assess and treat patients with a variety of physical conditions in bed-based intermediate care units, delivering both individual and group therapy as appropriate.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Develop, plan, and implement tailored physiotherapy programmes for patients, ensuring effective discharge planning.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of the multidisciplinary team within the intermediate care pathway, providing support to other healthcare professionals and delegating work to assistants where necessary.
  • Service Development: Participate in service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  • Mentorship: Support the development and training of junior staff and assistants, contributing to a positive team culture.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of relevant post-graduate experience
  • Completed junior rotations or equivalent experience in rehabilitation across a range of clinical settings
  • Experience working with physically impaired patients, including fallers, in acute/community settings

Desirable:

  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  • Experience at Band 6 level or equivalent
  • Experience working in community settings

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of falls prevention and management of complex co-morbidities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills, including time management and the ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to provide evidence-based, client-centred care
  • Strong commitment to personal and team development
  • Ability to travel across the Dudley Borough as required

Desirable:

  • Experience with IT systems and data input
  • Knowledge of relevant national and local clinical guidelines
