Job Title: R&D Engineer

Location: DY5 West Midlands

Salary £45- 50,000

Our client, a well-established global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of specialist engineered assemblies, is offering an exciting career opportunity for an experienced R&D Engineer.

This position is based at their cutting-edge manufacturing site in the Midlands, where innovation and excellence are at the core of their operations.

Youll be involved in everything from conceptual design to testing and product documentation, ensuring compliance with ISO 13485 Quality Management System and global regulatory requirements such as CE, EU MDR, UKCA, and FDA.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development:

Research user needs and market requirements to create robust product specifications.

Design components and assemblies using SolidWorks, ensuring products meet technical requirements and project goals.

Develop prototypes and perform verification testing.

Lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments.

Ensure compliance with intellectual property requirements.

Implementation:

Oversee product implementation from Design Freeze to post-launch.

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to meet project milestones.

Conduct root cause analysis and resolve product issues promptly.

Support manufacturing and purchasing decisions, including the Make vs Buy process.

Project Management:

Manage the full lifecycle of projects, from concept to manufacturing release.

Lead project teams, track critical paths, and ensure timely completion of milestones.

Report progress to stakeholders and escalate issues as needed.

What Were Looking For

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field plus 2 years in a similar role within a highly regulated industry plus Solidworks experience.
