We are seeking a Technical Underwriter with expertise in property and liability risks. This pivotal role involves developing broker and insurer accounts, reviewing, quoting, and securing GWP, and focusing on larger and more complex risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting and be adept at managing broker relations and technical referrals.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Review, quote, and secure new business, focusing on larger and more complex property and liability risks.
  • Retain renewals by meeting strategic growth plans for complex risks.
  • Develop and manage broker accounts in collaboration with Key Account Managers and the Underwriting Service Department.
  • Act as the technical referral point for scheme business, utilizing the highest level of underwriting authority.
  • Lead the management and embedding of newly launched products and support the development of new schemes.
  • Identify opportunities for product development and process improvement, making recommendations to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Support the Technical Underwriting Function in governance, insurer relations, training, and other ad hoc tasks as directed by the Head of Underwriting.
  • Take responsibility for personal development, ensuring completion of all compulsory and compliance modules within set deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • CII Qualification (Dip CII or progress towards it; commitment to achieve ACII is advantageous).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in property and liability underwriting.
  • Proven experience working with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
