Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Tooling Technician with expertise in injection moulding tools to join our client.

The role involves maintaining, preparing, and repairing injection moulding tools to ensure the production of high-quality products in an efficient and timely manner. You will ensure the adherence to the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) schedule and carry out insert changes to keep tooling operational and support production demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Ensure proper evacuation of stored water from tools according to Legionella guidelines and maintain the Tool Evacuation Log.
  • Identify and report potential tool breakdowns, minimising downtime related to issues like hot runners, water fittings, core fittings, electrical connections, and general tool wear and damage.
  • Perform basic machining tasks using milling machines, lathes, and hand tools when necessary.
  • Conduct basic benching tasks to restore injection moulding tools to production standards.
  • Record and maintain data to ensure compliance with manufacturing metrics.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and cleanliness standards are maintained at all times.
  • Verify that all lifting equipment is compliant, and quarantine/report non-compliant equipment.
  • Complete tooling TPM tasks according to schedule and maintain the TPM database.
  • Support and uphold the company's 5S standards through cleaning and inspection of tooling equipment.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in injection moulding tooling.
  • Basic machining skills, with experience using milling machines, lathes, and hand tools.
  • Minimum Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in a fast-paced Tier 1 Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work proactively.
  • High levels of literacy, numeracy, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office packages.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
