Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Operations Director, providing Quality leadership and maintaining the Quality to world class standards and supporting the position of a risk-free supplier of packaging products.

Specific responsibilities:

Develop a 3 - 5-year plan for the improvement of Quality on site;

Ensure that products provided by meet both the requirements of the Quality Management system and customer specification;

Reviewing the QMS on an annual basis;

Ensure Elsham site is compliant with all current regulatory laws and all technical data /docs are up to date and apply changes when needed;

Ensure that all aspects of ISO and BRC standards are led and maintained. Oversee and co-ordinate internal audits, customer and compliance visits, maintaining all accreditation's;

Manage the Quality element of contract / specification review, working with customers to identify specifications and permanent solutions to Quality issues and working closely with the commercial team, CI, process engineers and Operations teams to achieve the required quality standards, outputs and to implement Quality process improvements;

Lead all elements of Quality Control, document control, calibrations, customer Quality interface and supplier Quality assurance by developing key supplier partnerships;

Develop and deliver Good Manufacturing practices and work with team to develop engagement of all employees in the improvement of Quality, creating training and quality standards to enhance and ensure competence;

Management of the Quality Control Department including annual goal setting/evaluations of subordinates' performances, and continuous development of the QC Team, lead and inspire QC team to achieve goals through innovation, quality and excellence;

Management of quality and trial requirements for all customers through the QC Team;

Identify and maintain the Quality Budget, ensuring the reduction in risk from claims and all potential costs;

Be responsible for all Quality KPI targets, implement recommendations and ensuring performance achievement;

Fully participate where required as a member of the leadership team making sure the appropriate actions are taken to drive safety, efficiency, Quality, within site;

Lead the Quality process within the management team and represent the leadership team both within site and to the wider community;

Lead the WCM Pillar Identifying the origin of losses, root causes, develop problem solving in your teams and ensure continuous improvement. Implement Improvement actions and reduce all Non- Value-added activity. Lead continuous improvement programmes towards being a "risk free supplier";

Evaluate success of improvements and hold the gains, monitor and update Department performance against manufacturing and business KPIs;

Any other tasks commensurate with the level of the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Substantial experience within Quality / Technical Manager position (over 2 years) within the FMCG sector
  • Excellent Management and leadership skills
  • Strong working knowledge of current BRC/ISO standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, Customer Codes of Practice and current regulatory laws
  • HACCP Level 4
  • Internal Audit Trained (Desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of quality and data systems and administrative /commercial aspects, including how to develop them, e.g SAP, Q-pulse, SharePoint, I-auditor.
  • Credible manufacturing technical expert, highly motivated, organised, with an easy communication style, able to effectively influence cross-functional teams and build sound rapport with customers to benefit the business.
