Job DescriptionConsultant Psychiatrist - Full TimeSalary: Up to £150,500Our client, an established mental health provider, is looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join their multidisciplinary team. The service focuses on preparing individuals for discharge or supporting them in achieving optimal long-term functioning.What you'll need for this role:
  • Qualifications: Fully GMC registered with MBBS (or equivalent) qualification, registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status.
  • Experience: Extensive experience and knowledge in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis, with a strong understanding of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice.
  • Team Player: Committed to continued professional development and capable of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Membership: A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.

Day-to-Day:
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to assess, treat, and stabilise service users.
  • Treatment Planning: Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans, working closely with the MDT.
  • Clinical Assessments & Diagnosis: Assess referrals, conduct mental state examinations, and undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Risk Management & Governance: Lead the implementation of risk assessments and management strategies while ensuring clinical governance standards are maintained.
  • Ward Rounds & Audits: Participate in ward rounds and clinical audits to review the quality of care and outcomes.
  • Mental Health Act Oversight: Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals, attend hearings, and ensure compliance with legislation.
  • On-Call Duty: Participate in a telephone on-call rota.
