Design EngineerCRP Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join a leading automotive company based in West Yorkshire. This role involves designing new vehicle parts, managing Bill of Materials (BOM), and project costings, all while ensuring high-quality standards and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive engineering, a keen eye for innovative designs, and strong organisational skills to manage complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Vehicle Part Design:
    • Design and develop innovative automotive components and systems for new vehicles.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and manufacturing, to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
    • Use CAD software (e.g., CATIA, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings for automotive parts.
  2. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management:
    • Develop and maintain accurate BOMs for new vehicle parts, ensuring all components, materials, and specifications are correctly listed and up-to-date.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to confirm materials and parts availability.
    • Ensure that all BOMs align with project requirements and are consistent with design and manufacturing processes.
  3. Project Costings:
    • Prepare and manage cost estimates for vehicle parts design and production.
    • Monitor project budgets, providing regular cost updates and working to mitigate any potential cost overruns.
    • Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities during the design and production phases.
  4. Collaboration & Problem-Solving:
    • Work closely with the engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to resolve any technical or production-related challenges.
    • Provide technical support during the prototyping and testing phases of new parts to ensure they meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
  5. Compliance & Standards:
    • Ensure all designs adhere to industry regulations, standards, and customer specifications.
    • Conduct design reviews to assess the feasibility and risks of new vehicle parts and designs.
    • Keep up-to-date with the latest automotive technology, materials, and industry trends.
    • Proactively suggest and implement improvements to designs and processes for enhanced performance, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
