Sonic Summary

The position is for a Process Engineer on a 6-month contract based in Huddersfield, with occasional travel to client sites.
The role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in process engineering and a BEng in Chemical Engineering with at least a 2:1 classification.
Key responsibilities include conducting process engineering calculations, managing pipework design, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and experience in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage.
The contract offers market rates and is classified as outside IR35.

Market Rates

Our Client has a requirement for a Process Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Huddersfield.

Role Purpose:

To support the successful delivery of engineering projects by performing essential process engineering tasks, ensuring all design aspects are seamlessly integrated and meet regulatory and client requirements.

Job Role Responsibilities:

Conduct and oversee process engineering calculations (e.g., mass and energy balance, pressure drop, pressure relief, device sizing).
Work with process plant unit operations, including pumps, reactors, condensers, agitators, and storage tanks.
Manage pipework fabrication and design.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations, such as HSG176, API pressure relief, HSE regulations, Health and Safety at Work, CDM, and DSEAR.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and EC&I, ensuring cohesive project integration.
Communicate effectively with management, operators, and subcontractors.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

Qualifications: BEng in Chemical Engineering (minimum 2:1).
Skills: Strong client-facing communication skills, ability to work independently, and manage multiple workflows effectively.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with MS Office Suite; knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project is beneficial.
Industry Experience: Background in bulk & specialty chemical manufacturing (COMAH sites), pharmaceuticals, personal care, food and beverage, and allied industries.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of chemical engineering codes and an appreciation for multi-disciplinary integration.
