A new opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer is available with my client who are leading switchgear solutions provider. Their ideal candidate will be proficient with AutoCAD and it would be advantageous if you have experience or background in switchgear and / or the rail industry in general.

Electrical Design Engineer role:
The successful Electrical Design Engineer will be office based and report to the Engineering Manager. Responsible for:

Supporting the Engineering Department in new product development and providing electrical engineering support of switchgear for railway electrification and other industries.
Produce drawings, specifications and reports of a high accuracy and standard.
Use AutoCAD to produce circuit diagrams, layouts, detailed drawings and wiring schedules as necessary.
Apply relevant electrical theory to carry out fault and protection grading studies, protection settings, etc. to develop and verify your designs and reports.
Be familiar with SCADA and PLC hardware and software concepts and have a willingness to develop a PLC software design role.
Prepare the construction file for issue to the manufacturing team, which would include all drawings, schedules, build manuals and equipment details.
Product design, including; equipment layouts, arrangements & technical specifications, single line diagrams, PLC system specifications.
Interface design drawings, multicore cable schedules, production of termination drawings and associated information.
System analysis activities, including load flow and fault studies.
Protection system design and analysis, including fault and grading studies.
AC & DC Auxiliary Supply design.
Current and Voltage Transformer requirements.
Attend kick off meetings, design reviews and performance meetings.
Manage all engineering activities associated with each project i.e. design, development, materials, procurement, implementation, commissioning and final handover.

Electrical Design Engineer requirement:

Educated to a relevant engineering qualification
Proven electrical design experience.
Knowledge of electrical power engineering design principles, with the ability to identify safe optimum technical solutions.
AutoCAD experience
The ability to manage the design of a number of projects simultaneously will be essential.
Ability to prepare design documents, based on best practice.
Commercial awareness coupled with an ability to closely identify opportunities to maximize return while ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
