Tony Alan Recruitment currently has a fantastic job opportunity for a Lead Financial Accountant to join a well-known organisation based just outside of the Brighton area on a permanent basis.

You will be responsible for providing professional accounting and financial reporting expertise to prepare the Group financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and manage the external audit process.

Your duties will include:

  • Manage a team of 3 members of staff
  • Review financial reporting against external best practice to deliver improvements
  • Co-ordinate the month end, quarter end and year end process with the across Finance ensuring timely and accurate completion of all reporting and reconciliation requirements
  • Support colleagues to ensure the timely completion of any month end or year-end processes
  • Optimise the finance system, the chart of accounts and the reporting processes to deliver efficient and robust systematic financial reporting
  • Manage production of the businesses annual accounts and published financial statements
  • Plan and manage the timetable for accounts preparation, agree cut off arrangements with stakeholders, manage the preparation and delivery of the consolidated financial statements and notes to the accounts
  • Embed current UK GAAP into the production of the financial statements
  • Interpret proposed changes to accounting standards, SORP requirements, and clearly communicate the impact to members of the senior finance team
  • Be the main point of contact for the external audit team fieldwork visits
  • Manage and co-ordinate the preparation of prepared by client information, control the flow of information to the audit team,
  • Supervise the production of the annual financial return, covering historical financial analysis and the five-year forecast
  • Work within function to support the design and implementation of policy and procedure to support the achievement of the businesses objectives, including the writing and presenting of reports

Key requirements:

  • Ideally you will be ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified or at finalist level
  • Experience of preparing year-end and group consolidated accounts is essential
  • Team management would be advantageous but not essential
  • Strong excel skills is essential
