This Brighton based accountancy practice seeks an accounts manager with previous experience within a practice background to confidently undertake a variety of finance duties whilst working on a mixed portfolio of accounts work. Clients include sole traders, partnerships and limited companies from a range of industries. This opportunity would suit a professional and confident individual who can lead a team and is eager to develop within a supportive friendly environment.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Completion of client’s accounts from start to finish
  • Responsible for ensuring all month end submissions and deadlines are met
  • Preparing management accounts and supporting schedules
  • Self-assessment tax returns
  • Keeping up to date with the latest tax and accounting laws, rules and regulations
  • Produce advice to clients about salaries, dividends and other services as appropriate
  • Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested by clients and directors
  • Dealing with financial paperwork and filing
  • Being able to communicate at all levels
  • Develop an ongoing, effective relationship with clients and ensure retention of clients
  • Managing the work flow of office and staff training at a variety of levels

The right candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Significant previous experience working in an accountancy practice
  • Relevant accounting / bookkeeping qualifications / be studying towards this / qualified by experience
  • Good working knowledge and experience of Sage & Xero
  • Staff & time management and experience leading a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work accurately and analyse a range of financial information
  • Great work ethic and eye for detail
