Job Overview

Being responsible for the identification and quantification of risk to compliance at Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTWs) due to biological, chemical, and hydraulic capacity shortfalls, and articulating benefits of long and short-term investments to reduce this risk. Completing analyses and modelling to facilitate above, including provision of insight into causes of compliance breaches.

  • Accountable and responsible for providing response to internal and external stakeholder queries on WwTW current and future treatment process capacity, utilising analysis and modelling.
  • Provide wastewater process support and advice to the Wastewater Asset Strategy & Planning teams, to facilitate optimal decision making on solutions delivered through the Asset Lifecycle Process, including challenging engineered solutions proposed by internal and external delivery teams.
  • Take a strategic overview on technical issues to ensure that continuous improvements are incorporated into new and updated business procedures and ensure that Wastewater Asset Strategy & Planning teams keeps abreast of future legislation changes, technologies and developments in the water industry. This will include participation in industry wide technical forums.
  • Responsible for providing wastewater treatment technical insight and support to Wastewater Asset Strategy & Planning teams to ensure optimal planning and investment decisions are made.

About You

  • Significant wastewater process science or engineering experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated asset management experience, Investment Planning experience, experience of water and wastewater or infrastructure industries.
  • Engineering experience of other disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical & ICA) advantageous.
  • Experience in modelling techniques and clear technical application desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess multiple sources of information, recognise uncertainty and identify preferred courses of action.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation.

Package

This role will be full time Monday to Friday with a hybrid approach to working between our Falmer office and home although remote working is also an option.  We are offering a salary of up to £50,000 per annum depending on skills and experience as well as other benefits including:
