This opportunity offers an exciting role for a Senior Civils Design Consultant to contribute to a major water infrastructure programme for Southern Water's AMP7 works, covering the period from 2020 to 2025. Based in Falmer, the role involves working on transformative water projects across Kent and Sussex, with a total programme value exceeding 350 million.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Civil Design: Develop cost-effective civil design layouts that meet project specifications and are constructible and commissionable.
  • Standardisation: Ensure the application of standard practices to streamline project processes.
  • Proposal Support: Provide estimates and input for the proposals department.
  • Procedural Improvement: Create, monitor, and refine procedures to improve efficiency within the design team.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with internal and external disciplines to ensure cohesive and efficient project designs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate files and records throughout project lifecycles.
  • Team Development: Assist in supervising and supporting the professional development of team members.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: A Civil Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Professional Membership: Chartered or nearing chartership with a relevant professional institution.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment processes.
  • Design Expertise: Ability to rationalise designs and create economical plant layouts.
