Skilled Operative/Ganger (Civils Engineering)

The Opportunity:

Our client, a prominent civil engineering contractor, is looking for a dedicated Skilled Operative/Ganger to join their team. Working alongside the Site Foreman, you will be responsible for completing designated tasks on-site, ensuring the work is done safely, with zero defects, and with minimal environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain plant and equipment required for the works, ensuring they are received and returned in good condition.
• Ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
• Check the accuracy of delivery tickets, addressing inaccuracies with the Site Foreman.
• Maintain job competence and stay current with industry practices.
• Ensure a safe working environment, adhering to Health and Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards.
• Always wear appropriate PPE.
• Properly store materials and minimize waste, including waste segregation for disposal.
• Ensure sites are left clean and tidy upon completion.
• Supervise a General Operative or Trainee when required.
• Advise the Foreman/HR of any training needs or ticket renewals.
• Report suspected errors or concerns to the Site Foreman.
• Report security, boundary fences, and traffic management issues to the Site Foreman.
• Work efficiently and safely, ensuring site tidiness.
• Operate plant and equipment within the appropriate level of skill, competence, and certification.
• Carry out designated tasks as instructed by the Site Foreman.
• Deliver a variety of civil-based skills, including concrete and reinforcement, groundworks, sheet piling, and pipe laying.
• Work effectively as part of a team.
• Treat all interactions with courtesy and respect.
• Exhibit flexibility and willingness to undertake duties beyond the outlined job description or work in other departments/sites to meet customer demands.

• Concreting
• Drainage
• Buried services
• Sheet piling
• Pipe laying

Qualifications:

• SSSTS (Preferred)
• First Aid
• CPCS 360
• CSCS card Skilled Worker
• General Operational Qualifications, including CPCS Dumper, Roller, CAT & GENNY, Abrasive Wheels, Vehicle Marshall
• Full driving licence
