Planning and Infrastructure Solicitor

A Planning and Infrastructure Solicitor is required to join a large private utility company on a permanent basis. As the Planning and Infrastructure Solicitor, you will be joining a particular project team in legal services.

The Planning and Infrastructure Solicitor role will:

  • Support on high-value capital projects, advising on technically challenging matters and supporting relevant project teams
  • Advise on a range of planning matters which will include the consenting processes, conducting planning inquiries and examinations, statutory consultation process and Environmental Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations, land acquisition strategies and negotiating with regulators and statutory bodies
  • Draft and negotiate various planning agreements relating to the consenting process for infrastructure to include Development Consent Orders and various planning applications
  • Work with the wider project team including Commercial Solicitors and external legal support

The Infrastructure Programme:

  • Investing to improve how they source, treat and supply water
  • Reducing the amount of water they source from the Test and the Itchen by creating a modern water supply network. The result will be a resilient water supply for customers and the environment, whatever the weather
  • As part of an investment, they are building a new strategic water supply asset . The preferred consenting mechanism for delivering this new water resource infrastructure is through the development consent order process, however the town and country planning process does also form a critical part of their consenting strategy

As the Planning and Infrastructure Solicitor, you will have:

  • Have a good grounding in consenting (planning), environment and regulatory law
  • Have experience of DCOs and working on large scale infrastructure projects
  • Experience from Private Practice, Central Government or In-house
  • The opportunity to work on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the country and be part of an established legal team.
