Estates Capital Projects Site Manager

Location: Brighton

Salary: £38,000- £42,000 per annum

The College is seeking to appoint an Estates Capital Projects Site Manager.

Main Purpose of the Role: The Estates Capital Projects Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing various projects within the estate portfolio. This role involves coordinating with contractors, liaising with internal departments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Coordination:

  • Manage all aspects of project planning, execution, and close-out.
  • Coordinate contractor visits, appointments, and work schedules
  • Liaise with internal departments to deconflict and optimise project timelines.

Contractor Management:

  • Act as the main point of contact for contractors, particularly during project execution.
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Address day-to-day queries from contractors and provide support as needed.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Oversee contractor compliance paperwork, ensuring all documentation is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Budgeting and Quotes:

  • Seek suppliers and obtain quotes for upcoming projects and maintenance works.
  • Ensure expenditures and variations are tracked and reported accurately.

Site Monitoring:

  • Conduct daily checks on all contractors during project works.
  • Identify and raise any concerns, questions, or deviations from the planned work schedule.

Reporting:

  • Prepare regular status reports and updates for stakeholders on project progress, risks, and issues.
  • Ensure project completion paperwork is obtained and adequately documented. Working Conditions:
  • This position may require occasional travel to various estate sites.
  • The role will involve working outdoors in various weather conditions based on project locations.

The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:

Essential:

  • Experience working with contractors and suppliers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Estates Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in estates or facilities management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Desired:
  • Knowledge of construction practices, compliance regulations, and contract management.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.

Hours of Work

During term-time (35 weeks total) the working hours will be 8:30am to 5:00pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday inclusive (37.5 hours per week). Outside of term-time (17 weeks total), depending on contractor requirements, there will need to be flexibility with start and finish times. There may be a requirement to work outside of normal College business hours on occasion.

Remuneration: A salary in the range of £38,000- £42,000 per annum will be offered to reflect the individual's experience.

Holidays: 23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
