Finance Assistant / Central Brighton / £26k - £30k
Client Details
My client is a well-established business that trades internationally. They are looking for a Finance Assistant to join the busy team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance in Brighton.
Description
As the Finance Assistant, your role responsibilities will include:
- Process invoices, expenses, and payments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of financial transactions by posting and reconciling accounts in the accounting system.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices and resolution of any discrepancies.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Assisting in the year end stock take and the reconciliation of this to the accounting system.
- Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and other regulatory filings.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to resolve any finance-related queries.
- Support the team with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Profile
To be successful in your application for Finance Assistant, you should have:
- Prior experience in a finance or accounting role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and positive attitude.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
