Do you have experience in supporting adults with autism? Are you confident in your approach with a good sense of humour?

We are recruiting a support team for Ayla who is getting ready to move to her new home in the Brighton area.

About Ayla

Ayla is an intelligent and determined young lady who is transitioning from the hospital into her own home. Ayla has a bubbly, lively personality with a sarcastic, outrageous, funny sense of humour.Aylas biggest passion is being a voice for the autistic community. Ayla is a trainer delivering autism training across West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. Ayla is dedicated to using her lived experience as a trainer to embrace neurodiversity and speak up for those who face injustice.

Ayla enjoys studying and learning about the latest research and thinking around autism.

In Aylas spare time, she enjoys music, trampolining and fashion. Ayla is in a band and writes her own lyrics and poetry about politics as well as playing electric and bass guitar and the drums.Ayla likes going out for drives and getting out and about to explore new areas. Ayla would like to go on holidays and have people supporting her who would enjoy this too.

Its important to gain a true connection with Ayla and for the staff that develop an instant emotional connection with her its a bonus. Its important to go with Aylas flow to get an understanding of her and her needs as well as gain her respect before learning the right way to support her. Ayla requires someone who is willing to approach things this way and takes the time to learn from her as she is the expert on herself.

Ayla is autistic and has moderate Learning Disability, heightened anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder and pathological demand avoidance which at times can lead to challenging behaviour as a result of distress. Ayla is also diagnosed with a sleep disorder, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and Raynauds. Ayla has interactable epilepsy which is well controlled by medication.Ayla requires a confident staff team who uses a humanistic approach to engage, listen and empower her to make choices.
