Infrastructure Manager | Brighton | Up to £60,000 + final salary pension

The Opportunity:

Are you an experienced Facilities Manager, Depot Manager or Engineering Manager looking for fantastic career progression prospects with the UK’s largest train operating company?

We are looking for a facilities management professional, with prior experience operating within a rail environment, to look after the reactive, and PPM (including all hard FM services, and plant/specialist equipment) across our client’s operational depots in Brighton.

As Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Team Leaders, depot infrastructure teams and external contractors, ensuring that all depot locations are fit for purpose, safe, and fully compliant.
The Fleet Infrastructure Team consists of 33 staff in total, and they will be utilising several specialist contractors in order to carry out the required works, so solid people management experience is a must. Stakeholder management experience will be equally as important, as you will be liaising with various POCs on a regular basis, such as Depot Managers, Network Rail, and Senior Management within the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct the team leaders and the local teams in the planning and execution of depot infrastructure programmes, planned preventative maintenance and planned site inspections.
  • Ensuring work allocation is best aligned to the critical needs of the business.
  • Manage third-party contractors, ensuring compliance to all external and internal standards and legislation.
  • Ensure that the company and key stakeholders fulfil all local obligations.
  • Ensure the appropriate implementation of all applicable standards.
  • Ensure that any Fleet Infrastructure work sites provide a clean, safe and tidy working environment and that hazards are controlled to minimise risk and environmental impact in minimised after every shift.
  • Contribute to the management and maintenance of the Infrastructure Asset Maintenance system.
  • Completion of other activities as directed by the Head of Fleet Infrastructure to support the delivery of the company’s objectives.
  • Develop and deliver a schedule of audits for all assets and contractors.
  • Ensure the Infrastructure Asset Maintenance system delivers compliance to internal/external standards, as well as all mandatory legislation.
  • Assist in contract procurement where it is necessary to outsource services/support to ensure the company remains compliant
  • Responsible for ensuring the fleet infrastructure department report back against the identified Critical Success Factors (KPI's), monitor and effect any adverse trends or non-compliance
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated to establish root and underlying causes. Ensure corrective and preventative measures are implemented in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Assist and support the Head of Fleet Infrastructure in internal and external stake holder meetings.

Candidate Essentials

  • Chartered status in a relevant discipline, e.g., Building, Engineering, FM etc. (Desirable)
