Hays Bristol senior finance team is excited to present this role for one of our financial services clients in Bristol.About the Role:This hybrid position requires three days a week in the office, offering flexibility and support for your wellbeing. In 2023, the business transitioned to Oracle Fusion, aligning with their strategy to standardise practices. The balance sheet of each legal entity is managed by Financial Control, with preparation by Transactional Accounting, supported by Tax and Treasury.You will join a team of four for 6-7 months, guided by the Group Financial Controller and supported locally by the Global Head of Transactional Accounting. The team will collaborate with Financial Control, Transactional Accounting, Tax, and FP&A to review balances and enhance evidence preparation under IFRS. This includes advising on balance releases and performing a deep dive on fixed assets to ensure proper categorisation and retirement of obsolete assets.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Balance Sheet Accounting Manager in planning and improving balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review and amend the fixed asset ledger to comply with IFRS audit assertions.
  • Investigate and resolve unknown balances.
  • Provide feedback on outsourced vendor performance.
  • Create an attestation process for balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Monitor and improve the quality and timeliness of balance sheet work.
  • Act as a point of contact for support requests and conflict resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support Financial Control with balance sheet audit evidence.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a background in practice, before moving to a large global business.
  • Fully qualified (ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent.
