Overview
Our client, a leading provider of cutting-edge Data orientated SaaS solutions, is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering to lead their engineering teams. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of software delivery, inspire high-performing teams, and drive innovation in financial services technology.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial services software development, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively across functions. While domain expertise in Data is not essential, an understanding of the challenges faced by large financial clients and their regulatory environment is key.
This role reports directly to the CTO and offers a chance to make a strategic impact within a dynamic organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Oversee and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
- Delivery Management: Take ownership of the software delivery roadmap, ensuring alignment with priorities set by Product Management.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities comply with company policies and reporting requirements.
- Cross-Functional Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams to address customer-reported issues and support sales, pre-sales, and customer success efforts.
- Strategic Integration: Work with other Engineering leaders to drive best practices, share components, and integrate products across the organisation.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrable experience managing and motivating engineering teams, with the ability to mentor and develop future leaders.
- Technical Expertise: Strong technical background in Java, with experience in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. Knowledge of JavaScript is also beneficial.
- Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with delivering mission-critical, high-volume, near real-time systems for financial services clients.
- Roadmap Delivery: Experience translating competing priorities into actionable roadmaps and leading teams to successful delivery.
- Change Management: Adaptability in responding to change, with clear communication of its impact.
- Client-Facing Skills: Strong professional communication skills, capable of representing engineering teams to clients.
