The Opportunity
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, our client is seeking to expand their team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development.
To do this, they are currently seeking a talented Commissioning Engineer to join their diverse team at the forefront of nuclear projects and committed to a Net Zero, and Energy Security future.
The role
Our client is seeking C&I Engineers, to be based from our office in Bristol.
As a Commissioning Engineer, you will be producing Control and Instrumentation (C&I) specification in close collaboration with process design studies in the scope of the project, i.e. production of documentation required to purchase, commission, and operate the systems, including related communication with interfacing entities.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- You will be responsible for system design and system integration into overall project design; Produce, Review and update the system documentation for operator instructions, human machine interface, safety and environmental, control logic design, as well as periodic testing in compliance with the engineering rules, methodologies, quality processes, and tools.
- Particularly for Instrumentation and Control, performing the analysis for defining the C&I Functional Requirements of the system and production of the C&I logic.
- Writing of the Instrumentation and Control Functional Requirements.
- Specification of Detailed Functional Diagram (DFD; C&I logic diagram).
- Writing of the Functional Test Procedure and running respective tests and writing of system design manual part 5 (C&I logic description).
- Specification of human machine interface (alarms sheets, operating images, operating modes).
- Analysis and verification of input data, requirements, and lessons learnt from other stations.
- Engage proactively with all stakeholders around the system in Edvance to ensure the delivery of a product meeting the requirements set by all disciplines (layout, civil, hazard, nuclear safety, environment, configuration management, procurement …)
- Contribute to topics around good practises, innovation, improvement of processes, and quality.
You will have the following qualifications & experience
- C&I, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in Instrumentation and Control design.
- Knowledge of C&I design principles and C&I platforms.
- Experience of producing design documentation and Test Specifications .
- Ability to effectively manage own workload in order to produce high quality documents and respect deadlines and to communicate clearly and accurately, both written and orally, in English.
- Proactive and confident in communicating with others, particularly those based in remote offices including France and Germany.
- Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project.
- Continuously looking for opportunities to improve quality of engineering studies and the subsequent documentation produced.
- Ability to productively coach and support others with the team, able to prioritise, manage numerous with other stakeholders.
The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
