Faults Studies Engineer DSA

Holtec Britain, a member of the Holtec International family; is a global leader designing an unconditionally safe and secure source of clean energy. Holtec has received funding from the FNEF to advance its SMR programme, and is building its brand new team based in Bristol. As a Faults Studies Engineer you will contribute to the development of fault studies and support the submission of safety cases for the Holtec SMR-300+ small modular reactor, building a strong relationship with the US SMR Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct electrical engineering assessments of power plant systems.
  • Support the development of Fault Studies and Severe Accidents safety case sections for the Holtec SMR GDA.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance team and individual technical skills.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders, including nuclear regulators.
  • Defend reactor design positions and actively contribute to a project-driven engineering team.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in fault studies principles with a strong understanding of light water moderated reactors and systems.
  • Familiarity with thermal hydraulic behaviour of nuclear reactors under steady state and transient conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
