The Energy Division at ARM are currently recruiting an experienced Principal Process Safety Engineer to join a leading Engineering consultancy and to work within the Nuclear and Power team.

Job Overview:

You will be working within the Nuclear and Power area of the business in the Systems Design team where your goal is to support the delivery of numerous projects on behalf of our clients, either in-house or via secondment.

The principal safety engineering role will be dynamic, detail orientated and cover every stage of a project life cycle from feasibility to commissioning. You will primarily work within the Nuclear New Build and Science and Industry markets, but may also be involved with Decommissioning and Disposal, Net Zero, and Defence and Generation projects.

Some of your duties will include:

  • We are looking for a person to lead on ensuring that our multidisciplinary designs are safe; and that safety requirements are properly identified and managed, and risks are minimised.
  • We are looking for someone with prior experience in performing and supervising process safety activities, including but not limited to:
  • Multidiscipline hazard workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, bowtie analysis, ALARP demonstration, inherent safety assessment, and the successful close-out of resulting actions.
  • Consequence analysis to establish the severity of hazards including fire, toxics, and explosion in risk assessments.
  • DSEAR risk assessment.

What do you need to succeed?

  • You have a proven track record in a highly regulated industry, ideally within the nuclear domain, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Honours Degree (or equivalent) in relevant discipline.
  • Chartered (or working towards Chartership status).
