Carbon 60 is looking to recruit a Structural Engineer for our Public Sector client based in Central Bristol

Pay rate is £23.53ph PAYE

This contract is due to start on 30th September 2024 and last 9 months

Working hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday

This is a hybrid role working a minimum of 3 days in the office

Your role

  • Provide professional surveying services and project management, particularly those involving structural, dimensional and topographical surveys and design solutions, to the client's stock of dwellings
  • Ensure work carried out is of the highest quality
  • Plan, monitor and control all aspects of the programme, seeking best practice, ideas and innovation and ensuring they are applied to the project.
  • Achieve the project's objectives within the defined schedules, costs and performance parameters.
  • Take ownership, be responsible and accountable for all aspects of the project, programme or service from end-to-end

You will need

  • Degree in Structural engineering, diploma or HNC equivalent or equivalent professional qualification in a construction field and corporate membership of the institution of structural Engineers or with substantial post qualification experience and able to demonstrate significant relevant knowledge of complex structures
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrable project management skills.
  • Practical experience in a role as 'technical expert' in a building, surveying/ structural surveying or similar construction related environment providing design solutions.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety issues
  • Method Experience of leading and supporting staff in a service delivery environment, project management qualification.
  • Expert knowledge of the different types of construction of residential buildings, including multi-storey blocks, their potential defects and the investigation and implementation of solutions
  • Demonstrable ability to co-ordinate professional staff, take ownership and be accountable for all aspects of a service/project/programme from end-to-end
  • Demonstrate evidence of applying innovative and analytical approaches to solving complex and challenging problems
  • Ability to liaise and cooperate with other teams and contractors to ensure Service outcomes are achieved.
  • Demonstrate ability to supervise projects or programmes to achieve outcomes including meeting financial and budgetary targets, developing service, ensuring high quality workmanship
  • Ability to provide written reports, including embedded photographs and to create and make presentation material using IT tools and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent including the following: Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills, using oral, written and electronic media
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of equalities and diversity issues and awareness of the equalities issues relevant to delivering the service.
  • Must hold a valid, full Driver's license
