Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Construction Manager to join our team in Bristol, managing the construction of a significant student accommodation project. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of one entire block, ensuring the project is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a key leadership role, involving the management of a multidisciplinary team, including Site Managers, subcontractors, and other site staff.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership: Take full responsibility for the delivery of one block within the student accommodation project, ensuring seamless coordination and execution.

Team Management: Lead, motivate, and manage all site personnel, including additional Site Managers, tradespeople, and subcontractors.

Programme Management: Develop and monitor construction schedules, ensuring milestones are met and delays are effectively mitigated.

Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and addressing any risks promptly.

Quality Assurance: Oversee quality control processes to guarantee that all construction work meets or exceeds specified standards.

Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure effective communication and alignment.

Budget Control: Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and ensure efficient use of resources to achieve financial targets.

Problem Solving: Address and resolve on-site issues and challenges as they arise, maintaining project momentum and quality.

Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management and clients, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Skills and Experience Required

Qualifications:

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Relevant construction certifications (e.g., SMSTS, CSCS Card).

Experience:

Proven track record as a Construction Manager, with experience managing large-scale, multi-storey accommodation projects.

Demonstrated ability to manage teams, including Site Managers and subcontractors.

Strong knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and health and safety practices.

Skills:

Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Proficient in project management software and tools.
