Rate: 400 - 450 per day

Our client, a Tier 1 contractor, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and oversee design activities within the CP7 framework in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional with a background in rail or civil engineering design, looking to make a significant contribution to a high-profile, long-term project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Management: Lead the coordination and management of all design activities, ensuring designs meet project specifications, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication between design teams, project managers, clients, and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and smooth progression of the project.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure that all design elements comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and best practices within the rail and civil engineering sectors.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate design-related risks or issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough records of design processes, providing regular updates to the Design Manager and key stakeholders on project status and any challenges faced.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in design management or coordination within rail or civil engineering sectors, with a strong understanding of Network Rail standards being highly desirable.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in design management tools and software specific to rail and civil engineering.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of design objectives.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a keen focus on delivering high-quality, compliant designs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of liaising with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders effectively.
