Applications Engineer

This global manufacturing organisation offer the opportunity to join their established, friendly and successful team in Bristol as an applications engineer who would report in to the lead applications engineer.

Responsibilities for the applications engineer

  • Lead customer projects involving all areas of project management
  • Handle customer projects from concept through to production ready
  • Combines customer liaison, internal team liaison, costings, testing programs etc, with the intent of winning new business
  • To develop knowledge of one or more of the competencies to an expert level in (Design, product owner, NPI, Testing) of companies products
  • Proactively communicate with external sales team and customers on projects (including status, response to queries, solutions etc)
  • Build and maintain relationships with key people across the business to support the Application Engineering role
  • Some travel to customer sites may be required from time to time, so the ability to have some flexibility and the ability to travel abroad is required.

Essential skills required for the applications engineer:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical subject matter
  • Experience of digital design tools (CAD, FEA etc)
  • Previous experience and knowledge of working in engineering & manufacturing environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both internally and to customers in written and spoken communication
  • Resilient in the face of technical challenges with the ability to overcome challenges with problem solving
  • Experience in an engineering environment

Useful to have:

  • Any working knowledge of a foreign language e.g. German, Cantonese or Mandarin, Korean or Japanese are of particular interest
