Ackerman Pierce is actively seeking a Business Analyst to join their team at Bristol Council. This exciting opportunity, initially for a 6-month term with extension, comes with the potential for extension based on performance and internal circumstances. Candidates with Local Authority experience will be given preference.

As a Business Analyst, you will:
The Portfolios, Programmes and Projects service hold extensive portfolios of Change, Transformation and Capital Programmes & Projects spanning all areas of activity. These projects are varied but all focus on delivering some form of change, which will likely include both ICT and process change.
We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to initially support two projects within our 'Families First' Programme transforming Children's Social Care:
- Foster Care; recruitment, retention, and sufficiency
- Youth Homelessness
During assignments you will be asked to:
- Work closely with the Project Manager and subject matter experts from the service areas concerned to achieve the Project's goals.
- Identify and undertake all necessary business analysis tasks including gaining a solid understanding of current processes and pain points, user needs analysis and requirements elicitation, developing 'to be' processes.
- Document and communicate your findings and ideas to the project team, service, and other stakeholders.
- Work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Shaping and evaluating options as part of business case development.
- Researching how comparable authorities/companies deliver similar services.
What experience and skills are we looking for?
- The two named projects are connected by Children's Social Care systems (Liquid Logic - LCS and EYES), data and processes, which also support other projects within the transformation scope. As such, specific experience with these is highly desired, alongside an ability and desire to support broader and emerging ambitions.
- We require an experienced business analyst with a range of analysis skills and expertise including:
- High level of facilitation and communication skills,
- Requirements elicitation and development experience,
- Process design & redesign experience,
- Experience of developing new and existing processes, ideally in a local authority context.
- The drive to proactively and continuously problem-solve and work creatively to maximise the effectiveness of the services we deliver.
- The ability to contribute to and thrive in a collaborative, evolving work environment.
- Our expectation is that you will have adapted your BA practice to working remotely via Teams.
Typical Assignments:
- Supporting Business Partners: Assist in identifying business needs and evaluating change requests from Council Teams, Services, and Directorates.
- Discovery Activities: Lead investigations into business problems or opportunities.
- High-Quality Outputs: Produce well-crafted deliverables that express identified needs and recommended solutions.
- Multi-Disciplined Teams: Lead teams in refining and delivering against specified requirements.
- Risk and Benefit Evaluation: Measure and assess risks and benefits associated with proposed changes.
