Role Overview:
The client plays a critical role in delivering innovative platforms, advanced technologies, and unparalleled services to support the Ministry of Defence and UK national security services. Employing over 1,800 people, ensuring the long-term operational readiness of key assets, including Chinook, Apache, Poseidon, and C-17 aircraft.
As an Estimating & Pricing Specialist, working on a multi-billion-pound bid, you will partner with stakeholders across a dynamic and diverse portfolio of new business opportunities. You will develop accurate cost and pricing models, create competitive pricing strategies, and provide functional support to optimise business proposals. This role is based in Bristol with hybrid working options, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to complex programmes that drive value for the UK defence sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of detailed cost and pricing models for technical requirements across the design, build, and support phases of programmes.
- Devise and implement innovative pricing strategies using advanced computational techniques to enhance competitiveness.
- Support bids by evaluating requests for proposals, substantiating pricing methods, and ensuring the accuracy of estimates.
- Conduct in-depth financial and risk analyses, providing actionable recommendations to optimise pricing and cost structures.
- Maintain and improve cost and pricing databases, identifying new data sources and ensuring compliance with data requirements.
- Ensure technical requirements align with proposed solutions and are accurately costed to deliver optimal value for money.
- Implement policies for trading on Qualifying Defence Contracts and support interactions with customers on cost assurance audits and pricing reviews.
- Develop internal pricing rates and budgets to ensure affordability and competitiveness.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in a relevant field such as mathematics, finance, or business is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with data analysis tools and methods.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance professionals.
- Resilient and flexible, able to manage changing priorities and complex requirements.
- Team-oriented mindset with proven business partnering and influencing skills.
Experience:
- Prior experience in pricing bids and proposal activities is desirable.
- Familiarity with contracting for the UK Ministry of Defence or similar organisations is advantageous.
